The quality of this comic never wavers from its consistently high level. Tom Beland settles into his life with Lily in Puerto Rico as he slowly winds his way towards publishing the very book that I’m reading. It’s a tale of fear and doubt that would be impossible to believe given how popular the comic turned out, if not for the honesty with which Beland narrates his thoughts.
I’m continually impressed by Beland’s willingness to portray himself in a negative light. But he’s well aware of his faults, and understands that the conflict they create needs to be shown to give the full picture of his relationship with Lily. Kudos to his bravery, that couldn’t have been an easy decision.
