Sandman

Sandman 6-11

Regret buying: No

Would buy again: Yes

Would read again: Yes

24 Hours: I’m a total wuss when it comes to watching horror movies, but I love a well done horror comic.  This is still one of my favorites.

Dave McKean's covers...

Love the inking detail by Malcolm Jones III.

I'd forgotten about the words that go with the creepy images in this scene.

Rating: Pure joy

Sound and Fury: Dream battle Dr Destiny and gets the power of his ruby back.  A surprisingly generic ending to an unconventional opening arc.

Rating: Nice

Sound of Her Wings: Death!!!  One of my straight up favorite comics ever.  A beautiful, lovely issue.  Death is a perfect character.

God, Dringenberg's body language is perfect here.

"Anthropomorphic personification."  So good.

That's a perfect panel right there.

I can't even contemplate this kind of thing anymore.

Rating: Pure joy

Tales in the Sand: The Nada story.  Dream illustrates how he’s a total dick.  A necessary story to both set up “Season of Mists,” and illustrate his ability to change over the course of this series.

What a jerk.

I don't know why the "why" has always stuck in my head.

Rating: Good

Doll’s House (Parts 1 and 2): The first sign that Neil Gaiman’s doing something very different with this series.  Morpheus takes a total backseat to the adventures of Rose Walker.  The main story is just fine, but Gaiman introduces some great characters (everyone at Rose’s boarding house), and sets up some excellent stuff to come.

Nice final image.

Rating: Pretty good
