Southern Bastards 1-20
Hot damn, but this is a brilliant book. As much of this is told in flashback as it is in present day, and it’s all completely engrossing. While Jason Aaron and Jason Latour don’t so far as to make these characters likable, they do a spectacular job a la George RR Martin in Game of Thrones of making them understandable. There are no one-dimensional villains here, they all have motivations and reasons for their actions, as reprehensible as they are.
It’s a shame that this series ends just as Roberta Tubb is about to get going. Blame the asshole artist whose shameful acts would fit in nicely in this world that he helped create. I would have loved to read more.

I’d completely forgotten I had this. It’s basically Minority Report for cops. For some reason, precogs are allowed on the police force, but telepaths are not. One cop turns out to be both, and when a bad guy discovers that secret, what is the cop willing to do to keep from going to jail? It’s all very unsurprising. It’s not like it’s bad or anything, but there’s nothing I ever need to revisit. Cutting.
