DCeased: Hope at World’s End TPB
Tom Taylor is in a total groove with the DCeased universe. This remains his best work for me. There are some amazing moments in this, which I’m sure I’ll get to when I review it for the re-read.
Starman 20-23
The amazing “Sand and Stars” arc. Jack Knight teams up with an elderly Wesley Dodds and Dian Belmont, and the result is an utterly delightful experience. James Robinson evokes a nostalgia that’s entirely imaginary; Sandman Mystery Theatre isn’t an old series by any means, but I got such a warm sense of familiarity and affection in seeing Wes and Dian again. Certainly the flashback sequence drawn by SMT artist Guy Davis had a lot to do with it.
I love that Jack’s even more starstruck over meeting Dian than Wes. It’s wonderful to see that her writing aspirations from SMT resulted in a Nobel Prize!
Great art as usual by Tony Harris.
Chills. |
I love the little people in the corner. Their panic is clear even at this scale. |

Starman 24-27
Jack ventures into Hell to rescue The Shade and Matt O’Dare.
A cheap laugh, but a laugh nonetheless. |
Then everyone gathers for Christmas dinner. It’s all very sweet and Norman Rockwell.
Shade is such a softee. |
