Sandman Mystery Theatre

Sandman Mystery Theatre 41-48

The Phantom of the Fair: A man with an abusive childhood goes on a killing spree targeting gay men.  Wesley’s good friend Robert is one of the targets.  One of the few arc where Wesley, not Dian, gets most of the development; When confronted with Robert’s sexual tendencies, Wesley is forced to examine why having his own preferences questioned makes him so defensive.  While he intellectually has no prejudices, there’s clearly some sort of emotional recoiling nonetheless.

It’s not clear if he comes to any conclusion, alluding to some past same-sex experiences of is own, but I like that he’s open to that level of introspection.

The Blackhawk: Janos Prohaska, the Blackhawk, comes to the US seeking aid in fighting the Germans, with Wesley as a prospective investor.  The Sandman investigates who’s framing Janos for murder.  Dian has writer’s block, and her thoughts strongly suggest that she’s pregnant.
