Simonson Thor, New comics

New comics!

Giant-Sized Black Cat: Infinity Score 1

The end of Jed MacKay’s run and this title.  This last heist was a little meh, even with the twist behind Felicia’s motives.  Still, this was a fun comic pretty much the whole time.  Nice job by MacKay and his flotilla of artists over the past couple of years.

Nicely constructed page by CF Villa.

Dark Knights of Steel 2

Blah blah Tom Taylor’s a really good writer blah blah.  Things escalate quickly as Jor-El’s assassination puts a whole lot of things in motion, particularly the introduction of Zala Jor-El, his daughter and Wonder Woman’s girlfriend (woots!).

Thor 341-344

Definitely a let down after the awesomeness of Beta Ray Bill.  Thor crafts an alter ego for himself after the callous disappearance of Donald Blake.

Heh.

Then he fights Fafnir the Dragon and the Last Viking.  Lorelai, the Asgardian siren, plots her seduction of Thor.  Baldur mopes and whines and searches for meaning in his life.  Pretty run of the mill stories, but Walt Simonson’s art elevates the rating a notch or two.

Love the dynamic action in that first panel.

I like the shift in colors in the last panel, courtesy Christie Scheele.
