Iron Man 1-7, 10
Avenger 4-8
Heroes Reborn. I always knew, but it never registered until today just how sloppily the people of Image executed this entire endeavor. Writers and artists pop on and off of titles, seemingly at random. No one seemed able to keep any semblance of schedule, and the whole thing reeks of last-minute fill ins. Because I want to look at this five car pileup some more, let’s look at the musical chairs of pencilers and writers:

Such a bait-and-switch. Jim Lee’s the only original artist who even lasted six issues. After that, it’s strictly B-squad at best. (Except for Ian Churchill. He rocks.)
One of my favorites Avengers images. |
That’s also generously labeling Rob Liefeld and Whilce Portacio as A-list. I love Portacio for sentimental reasons, but he draws some ugly faces. It must be intentional, right?

WIth the exception of FF, they couldn’t even keep their writers for very long. And what’s with all the tag teamed writing credits? It really takes two people per issue to write this stuff? At least with the issues I read, there’s very little to recommend them storywise. I’m keeping most of the issues for nostalgia sake, but I really lost my patience with it by the end.
Regret buying? No
Would buy again? No
Would read again? Yes
Rating: Fine
(For Iron Man 7, 10, and Avengers 8)
